是什麼樣的魅力，讓人們如此喜愛他們的作品呢? 在重金屬音樂與毒品泛濫的70年代，Carpenters有如一股純淨的清風吹進人們的心靈，溫暖了那世代的人。他們的音樂絕大部分都是自己作詞、作曲，由妹妹Karen Carpenters主唱，哥哥Richard Carpenters（1946 -）伴唱及演奏；Karen獨特迷人的嗓音、優美易唱的旋律、加上健康的敘事性風格就是他們脫穎而出的關鍵。
本單元介紹曲Close to You靠近你 是Richard 改編自他人的作品，雖然Carpenters並不是這首歌的原唱，卻是將此曲唱紅的推手，它的原作者Burt Bacharach稱許Richard 的編曲抓住了這首歌的精髓。

英文表達慾望的用法最基本單字的就是 ”want想要” ，除此之外還有其他不同的表達方式，以下是簡介:

: long當形容詞意思是”長的”，當作動詞使用時有”想要”的意思。
