“好品格勝過於一筆豐厚的財產” (A good
character is better than a good fortune)，而”識人之道” (being a good
judge of character) 也是一項不可或缺的生活能力，英文提到人品時通常會用到 personality 和 character 這兩個單字，這兩個字有時可通用，但又有些區別，下是其簡介:
1. personality：翻譯為”個性”或”人格”，比較趨向人的外在特質，如:”outgoing外向”, "smart聰明", "funny有趣", "childish幼稚", or "mature成熟"…等這些特質是很容易被發現的，如果你跟某個人接觸交流或許幾分鐘下來就能發現。
Ex: Stoney has a
very nice personality.
Stoney的個性非常好。
The girl's warm personality is her
greatest charm.
那女孩溫暖的個性是她最迷人之處。
2. character: 翻譯成”品格” 或 “特徵”，
a.是指內在品格特質，那些需要一定時間，一定深入瞭解才能被發現的性格特質，比如說 ”honest誠實”, “just公正”, ”courageous有勇氣”, “compassionate有同情心”…，這些東西必須有足夠的資訊才能給出判斷。
Ex: I can bear testimony to his good
character.

b.是指人外表的特徵，如”高tall”,”矮short”, “胖fat”, “瘦thin” …等。
Ex: As people grow older, their faces acquire more
character.
隨著年齡的增長，人的臉會越來越具有特性。
