當時從英國進軍美國的音樂，以美國原有的Rock music搖滾樂、Blues布魯斯音樂及negro music黑人音樂節奏…等元素為基礎，且賦予了新的演唱風格，為低迷的美國搖滾樂市場注入新機。
本單元介紹曲 ”Sailing 航行” 就是“British Invasion” (英倫入侵) 時代的代表作品之一，演唱者Rod Stewart洛史都華 (1945-) 以此曲成功登陸北美，其他如: Beatles (披頭四)、The Animals(動物樂團)、The Rolling Stones(滾石樂團)...等，也都是這股浪潮中的佼佼者。
”Sailing ” 這首歌首度發表於The Sutherland Brothers 1972年的專輯裡，當時並未獲得顯著的共鳴；三年後 (1975)，Rod Stewart重新詮釋此曲，他以略帶磁性的非凡音質，配上舒緩流暢的編曲，唱出了歌詞的虔誠祈禱，感動了無數的聽眾。

Let It Be讓它過去吧
來自利物浦的Beatles 在1962年成功征服美國流行樂市場，廣泛被視為史上最有影響力的商業搖滾樂團。四位成員當中，又以John Lennon約翰·藍儂 (1940-1980）和 Paul McCartney保羅·麥卡尼 (1942-) 兩人的知名度最高。

儘管Beatles的表現十分亮眼，內部卻已出現裂痕，Paul McCartney曾經公開表示，他厭倦了團員生活糜爛，甚至被毒品所挾制，他想要整頓，卻力不從心，”Let It Be” 就是他在樂團近乎分崩離析時所寫的歌，基於當初創團的協議，雖然John Lennon並未參與創作，仍然與他共同掛名為詞曲作者。
“Let It Be ”發表後 (1970)大受好評，成了Beatles最受歡迎的一首歌，但就在一個月後，樂團也宣告解散。
1980年，John Lennon在一篇雜誌專訪中，證實了 ”Let It Be” 是Paul McCartney個人的作品，徹底和這首世界名曲劃清界線。
“let it be” 一詞是Paul McCartney取材自兒時母親給他的安慰話語，中文意思是”讓它過去吧!”，每個人都曾經有過處在人群中的寂寞感和挫折感，誠如歌詞所言:”There will be an answer”，事情總會有一個答案，因為造物主的安排都有祂的用意，選擇接受讓一切順其自然地過去，才不至於陷入痛苦的泥沼，而這也正是這首歌最引人共鳴之處。
