根據事後的調查報告，此事故暴露出許多人為的疏失，如: 造船者自信此船永不沉沒，以致救生艇數量準備不足；經營者好大喜功，明知有冰山之險，仍然全速前進；階級不公平待遇，三等艙乘客逃生動線設計不良…等，掀起了社會輿論探討，隨後促使全球海事法規進行大規模修改。
鐵達尼號的殘骸躺在大西洋中，直到1985年才被發現，其中所交織的人、事、物，被編到電影 ”Titanic鐵達尼號” 裡，以精緻拍攝手法包裹著一個虛構的愛情故事，感人至深，至今仍然有很高的討論度，而由Celine Dion席琳·狄翁(1968-) 主唱的片尾曲 ”My Heart Will Go On 我心始終不渝” ，也成了影迷心中不滅的經典名曲。

| The earth |
海洋占了地球百分之七十一的面積，大海連結起所有的陸地與海島；奇巧妙的是，在人體的內部水也是占了百分之七十一的比例，身體裡彷彿有一片海洋，連結著各個器官和組織。
一望無際的大海，不但為陸地上的人們提供了豐富的生活資源，並且擔任著調節地球氣候的角色，而人類對海洋另一端的好奇，則從未間斷過。
自從海上交通工具-”船”- 發明之後，航海滿足人類探索世界的慾望，也使全球人口和物資流動，促進了現代文明。
早期人們對海上所存在的風暴、暗礁、冰山…等危險訊息所知有限，航海是件非常危險的行為，船難事件時有耳聞。

在1972年有一部名為 “The
Poseidon Adventure海神號” 的電影，同樣取材自鐵達尼號沈船事件，雖然不像 ”Titanic鐵達尼號” 有那麼令人動容的故事張力，卻是開創了災難電影拍攝的風潮的先驅者。
它的主題曲 ”The Morning After黎明將至” 描述一群深夜裡豪華遊輪船難的倖存者，在船艙中相互扶持，一起尋找生路，渴望黎明曙光來到的心境，榮獲第45屆奧斯卡金像獎的最佳電影歌曲獎，是許多人熟悉的經典名曲。
